Volunteering for Individuals

After School Enrichment Program:
Volunteers are needed to provide homework help/supervision from 3:30 until 5:30 at the Emergency Family Shelter in Englewood. Our plan is to also provide some type of enrichment activity (music, art, dance, science, yoga, etc) on Fridays so we will be looking for volunteers with these types of skills

Kitchen Coordinator:
Although each congregation participating in the Walk-In Dinner Program cleans up after themselves, volunteers are needed to thoroughly clean the kitchen, organize cabinets, manage leftovers and order supplies at once a week.  Ideally, a team of volunteers would take responsibility for this job.

Weekend Morning Volunteers:
Two volunteers cook breakfast and one or two others plan and engage the children in activities.  This allows their parents time to do laundry and other jobs.

Overnight Volunteer:
One or two people volunteer to stay overnight each night at Peter's Place, the “no questions asked” shelter for homeless individuals run in conjunction with the Christ Church Community Development Corporation .

Committee Member:
The IRF needs volunteers who can contribute their particular expertise to various committees. If you like public speaking, consider joining the Marketing and Public Relations Committee.  Do you like to plan parties? Sign up for the gala committee.  There are lots of ways to get involved.  Please call the IRF office for more information.

Furniture Manager:
Matches potential donors with families moving out of the shelter.  Furniture movers are always needed.  Truck or van a plus.

Mailing Assistants:
Volunteers are called as needed to label, seal and sort mailings.
