Volunteer Opportunities

Skills Bank

The IRF is a volunteer-driven organization. With only 5 paid employees the IRF relies on volunteers for a myriad of jobs.

We have started a database to keep track of volunteers with special talents i.e. financial planner, mover, mentor, tutor, dentist, painter, etc.

All volunteers are encouraged to inform us of any skills that they possess that they might be willing to share with the people we serve on an “as needed” basis.

Contact Volunteer Coordinator Kate Duggan with your skills.

The IRF Youth Council

The Youth Council is made up of High School teens from Bergen County. These teens aid the IRF in assisting the homeless and their families. Their specific activities include:

  • play with and tutor homeless children
  • provide hospitality at our Peter's Place program.
  • prepare and serve food to the homeless at our Walk-In-Dinner program
  • attend our annual Youth Conference
  • promote homelessness awareness
  • start a homelessness awareness group at your school
  • organize and participate in fundraising events for "Camp Lots of Fun".

Teens and parents should contact Cindy Blinn at 201-833-8009 for more information.
